Abstract

When we refer to family business, we are referring to that company that is totally or mainly in the hands of one or more families. Some authors and most American studies believe that to be considered a Family Business. For the above, we must also bear in mind, in this system or group, to which we refer to the company, that family organizations, in their particularity, not only exert a great influence on the formal economy (strictly institutionalized and rigorously controlled by competent business organizations) . For an easy understanding of family businesses, it is necessary to know the current situation of small family businesses in Brazil, that is, those that operate independently and whose sales volume and number of employees do not exceed the established limits. by law. In Brazil and worldwide, the family business has been growing its interest in recent years. In the 1990s, several organizations emerged from the promotion and support of this type of company. Among the actions developed by them is the creation of territorial associations of family businesses.
