This article explores the clinical and epidemiological profile of patients treated at Emergency Care Units (UPAs) in Brazil, highlighting patterns of demand, demographic characteristics, primary complaints, comorbidities, and outcomes. The methodology followed the PRISMA protocol, involving searches of scientific databases to identify relevant studies published over the past ten years (2015–2025). Five articles were selected that analyzed the profile of UPA users in different Brazilian regions, providing a comprehensive overview of the topic. The main findings reveal a predominance of female patients, ranging from young to adult age groups, and a high proportion of cases classified as non-urgent (green), indicating significant demand for low-complexity conditions that could be resolved in primary care. Respiratory tract diseases, nonspecific pain, and gastrointestinal conditions were the most frequent complaints. It is concluded that a thorough understanding of this profile is crucial for the planning and improvement of urgent and emergency care services, aiming for a more efficient allocation of resources and better coordination with primary care.
