Schizophrenia is a chronic and complex psychiatric disorder that significantly impacts the quality of life of affected individuals. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the quality of life of patients with schizophrenia, as well as care strategies that promote well-being, functionality, and social inclusion. A narrative literature review was conducted in national and international databases, considering publications between 2000 and 2024. Results indicate that psychopathological symptoms, adverse drug effects, clinical comorbidities, and socioeconomic factors affect daily functioning and social participation. Conversely, consistent family support, social networks, psychosocial rehabilitation, multiprofessional follow-up, and community inclusion strategies significantly improve quality of life, treatment adherence, and social reintegration. However, challenges such as social stigma, limited resources, and socioeconomic inequalities still hinder the promotion of continuous and integrated care. It is concluded that integrated, patient-centered approaches involving clinical, psychosocial, family, and community aspects are essential to enhance quality of life and social inclusion in patients with schizophrenia.
