Violence is defined as the use of physical force or power, in threat or in practice, against oneself, another person or against a group or community that results or could result in suffering, death, psychological harm, impaired development or deprivation. When episodes of extreme stress occur, whatever it may be, inflammatory mediators are released. The databases used were National Library of Medicine, Virtual Health Library, Directory of Open Access Journals and Cochrane Library through the descriptors: “Inflammation Mediators”, “Childhood” and “Stress” using the Boolean operator “and”. The search filters were journal articles, clinical trials, open access articles, articles published in English, Spanish, Portuguese and published between 2011 and 2021. An increase in the expression of inflammatory mediators was observed in individuals after a violent event in childhood and a direct relationship with the development of certain diseases, neurocognitive impairment, psychiatric, autoimmune, cardiovascular, metabolic, behavioral and lifestyle changes. Thus, it was concluded that psychiatric illnesses such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, autistic spectrum disorder, hyperactivity disorder and attention deficit have a long-term incidence in victims of violence in childhood and adolescence.
