Chronic Chagas brain abscess is a rare and serious complication of Chagas disease caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi. Early diagnosis plays a crucial role in patient treatment and survival. This article highlights the importance of diagnostic imaging, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), in identifying and characterizing these chronic brain abscesses, providing essential information for proper treatment planning. A literature review was carried out in scientific databases, such as PubMed and Scielo, studies published in English and Portuguese, from 2010 to 2023, that addressed chronic brain abscess by Chagas and its diagnosis by imaging were included. The results obtained were synthesized and discussed, emphasizing the importance of imaging diagnosis in the identification and accurate evaluation of chronic brain abscesses caused by Chagas.
