We wanted to identify, analyze and compare the difficulties faced by physical education teachers at the beginning of their careers, with a bachelor's and licentiate degree, working in the Inconfidentes neighborhood, Minas Gerais. From a qualitative study, with 28 professors, it was found that the initial training did not provide specific and sufficient information to work in the intervention areas. The discrepancy between theory and practice in the first training led to a series of difficulties experienced by teachers. Other difficulties were also mentioned, such as dealing with the diversity of school rules and the disrespect and legitimacy of Physical Education as part of the school curriculum.
