This article deals with the process of nucleation of multigrade schools that took place in the municipality of Ariquemes, State of Rondônia. The objective of the research was to analyze the process of nucleation of multigrade schools and how it influenced the lives of those who live in these communities in the countryside of Ariquemes. The analysis was carried out using the evidentiary paradigm and document criticism. Our theoretical and methodological contributions are mainly based on the evidential paradigm of Carlo Ginzburg (1989), as “a proposal for an interpretive method centered on residues, on marginal data, considered revealing” (GINZBURG, 1989, p. 147) and criticism of the Marc Bloch document. The lack of motivation of teachers, poor quality of education and number of students per school were used as justification.
