FEMINICIDE

Abstract

This article has as object of study the crime of death against women (femicide). Such a crime was introduced into the Brazilian Penal Code by law 13.104/2015. Prior to that law, there was no special punishment for acts of violence that resulted in the death of a woman for reasons of gender. The crime of death against women was punished in a general way, such as homicide, which is provided for in Article 121 of the Brazilian Penal Code. The purpose of this article is to expand knowledge on this topic and establish a debate about this crime with high rates of occurrence. The justification for choosing the topic in question lies in the importance of improving knowledge on the subject through research and exposition of ideas. Therefore, entering the methodological procedures, with regard to the approach, it is a research with a qualitative approach. The type of research is bibliographic and the method used is deductive.
