Abstract

Obesity is a theme that is constantly present in the health area. Characterized by the excessive accumulation of fat, obesity is a risk factor for the health of the individual by making him vulnerable to other diseases. Among the various obesity treatment methods, bariatric surgery stands out for its effectiveness in weight loss and health promotion, due to the reduction of the risks of comorbidities. However, individuals undergoing surgical techniques are more likely to develop a nutritional deficit, resulting from dietary restriction, changes in the gastrointestinal tract and malabsorption of nutrients. In view of this, the present review study aims to address the main deficiencies caused by the lack of vitamin B12.
