The objective of this article is to present discussions of the results of the comparative analyzes carried out between the teacher's correction and that of an essay correction software developed in Brazil called CIRA. The compositions were prepared by a sample of high school students from a public school in Ceará who, together with the teacher, tested the efficiency of the aforementioned software. The approach of this research is qualitative and the methodology used was a case study. The results revealed that CIRA is a good technological resource if its use is under the guidance of a textual production teacher, as serious flaws were identified in the results of corrections of essays by the referred software that compromise the evaluation of the coherence of ideas in the text. It is concluded that the faculty, in the middle of the student's interaction with the digital environment, plays a fundamental role.
