The present study aimed to understand the ways in which Schools develop their role in Environmental Education in the Muatala neighborhood. The same was carried out in the School: ES by Muatala and Muthita EP 1/2, located in the City of Nampula. In methodological terms, the work favored a qualitative, descriptive approach and field study. A semi-structured interview and document analysis were used as an instrument and technique for data collection. 30 individuals participated in the study. The data were qualitatively analyzed using the content analysis technique, and indicate that the interviewees were unanimous in stating that the activities carried out by the schools within the scope of Environmental Education are the opening of landfills, lectures on the planting and care of fruit and shade plants, crosswise. In this way, it is suggested the integration of Environmental Education in the curricula of schools as an autonomous subject. There is a need for Schools to create environmental clubs, for permanent awareness based on lectures, student exchanges, cleaning days, theater, games, as a way of showing the relevance of Environmental Education for community. It is also urgent to create Environmental Education projects in schools as a way to provide students with favorable health.
