Abstract

The study published by Filho et al.,1 in this issue brings an important reflection on the evolution of infections by Plasmodium vivax or Plasmodium falciparum in relation to the levels of cardiac involvement, especially to the vascular endothelium, triggering the type of treatment to follow, by demonstrating that it is a utopia to think that P. vivax infections are always benign, since it can present late recurrences of the disease, a fact that can cause repeated exposure of the endothelium to inflammatory factors.
