The objective of this book is to provide the reader with a first understanding of the process of electronic monitoring activities of convicts in the light of Resolution Nº 412/2021 of the CNJ and the effects caused in the southern half of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, it should be noted that all the authors of this book have extensive experience in this activity, with the mission of providing access to information for society as a whole.
The database and general references of the Criminal Institute for Electronic Monitoring of the 5th Penitentiary Region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (IPME5) were used in this publication. This penitentiary unit is headquartered in the city of Pelotas (RS) and is recognized for implementing actions that serve as a model for the entire state, including leveraging positive debates throughout Brazil.
This study is divided into three chapters. The first brings the profile of the 5th Penitentiary Region of RS and the work of electronic monitoring for prison expatriates. The second chapter introduced the rules of electronic monitoring of convicts, as well as the inference of how the penal system emerged from its beginnings. Finally, chapter 3 lists the discussion based on the base text of CNJ Resolution Nº 412/2021 and the evolution of electronic monitoring activity up to the present day, corroborating in the sense of providing important data for all interested parties.
