Introduction: the landmark of the Industrial Revolution brings with it a new way of producing. This scenario became the basis for the creation of management theories. Among them, the theory of human relations emerges as a movement of reaction and opposition to the classical theory. TRH is based on the concept of social man. In this sense, it is highlighted that some aspects proposed by the theory can bring implications within the health services, favoring the role of nurses in their work context. Objective: to reflect on the application of the Administrative Theory of Human Relations to nursing work. Development: many concepts emphasized by TRH, such as leadership and communication, are applied in nursing, since it is marked by an eminently group work, where the nurse occupies a position of leader and, therefore, needs to communicate effectively with the others team members. It is also worth noting the contribution given by the focus on psychological and emotional aspects, as they reflect nurses' satisfaction at work, a key factor for providing effective care. Final considerations: the theory under study presents itself as an organizational model capable of mediating and amplifying the quality of care offered by nursing, in addition to contributing to the social construction of professionals and users.
