Education plays a fundamental role in the formation of citizens, through knowledge and intellectual development individuals become more aware of their rights and duties, understanding their importance in building a more just and egalitarian society. In this way, the intention was to understand how pedagogical practices can be expanded beyond the regular education system and become a pillar for the construction of citizenship, understanding the importance of projects such as the educating city, which aim to integrate the daily lives of cities and to base the norms developed in the education of the citizen. The objective was to demonstrate that several educational methodologies can contribute to the continuous formation of the individual, mainly in dissonant projects of formal institutions, providing the whole community with the opportunity to remain in a teaching environment and transform society in a positive way. The methodology used in the research was of a qualitative nature, aiming to understand the social aspects consonant with the concept of citizenship and its correlation with education. Data collection was carried out through bibliographical research in teaching materials, collecting concrete information on the subject studied.
