The article addresses the linguistic aspects of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) covered by the signwriting system, presenting a mental and conceptual map for knowledge representation. The objective is to point out which linguistic parameters in Libras can be perceived and taught when working with sign writing in the classroom with learners and users of this language. The research can be justified by the fact that deaf people need access to information and to have the characteristics of their language covered, addressing the need for access and use of a writing system that enables the dissemination of information and knowledge for graphic recording. Our research is descriptive with the strategy of presenting a conceptual map that resulted in the presentation of basic linguistic concepts that could be worked in the classroom through the signwriting system.
