EXPERIENCE REPORTS DURING OBSERVATION INTERNSHIP IN THERAPEUTIC RESIDENTIAL SERVICE BY PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS

The Residential Therapeutic Services (SRTs), following the determinations defined by the psychiatric reform, aim at welcoming, treating and re-socializing patients with mental disorders. For Psychology students, the development of technical skills and clinical intervention for individuals affected by severe psychopathologies is of fundamental importance. One of the ways to obtain this training is through the observational internship. In this way, the objectives of this work are the acquisition of knowledge related to mental health, the understanding of the dynamics and functioning of an SRT, the observation of patients and their interrelationships and the follow-up of the performance of a Psychology professional. The methodology was carried out through on-site visits to SRT in the city of Curitiba-PR, from September to November 2022, totaling fifteen hours of observational practice. It can be concluded that the main psychopathologies that affect patients are those that are on the spectrum of schizophrenia, that the experiences from the observational stage effectively contribute to the professional growth of the Psychology student and that, far beyond the attributions arising from From his psychological approach, the psychologist who works with individuals with mental disorders needs to be interested in human beings in their biopsychosocial dimension and ability to adapt to different situations.
