This article addresses the benefits of Pilates in the physical activity of practitioners, helping to maintain health and prevent various diseases, as a tool for physiotherapy. Historical aspects were also analyzed, such as the creation of the activity by Joseph Hubertus Pilates and its diffusion around the world. We used a qualitative methodology, carrying out a bibliographical research, where it was possible to effectively analyze the importance of Pilates in the historical and current context for its practitioners, contributing scientifically and academically, with the community in general, emphasizing the importance of this practice in the benefit of health. of the general population.
