Abstract

Adolescents experience the so-called growth spurt, which is a period characterized by changes and musculoskeletal development. With this, during the school phase, it becomes propitious for the appearance of postural alterations, through the conditions related to the development and the bad habits acquired. Objective: To highlight postural changes in adolescents at school. Method: This is a literature review carried out through the selection of scientific articles published in journals indexed in the SCIELO (The Scientific Electronic Library Online) and LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Science and Health) databases. having the search occurred between the months of September and October 2022, using the descriptors extracted from the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS): Adolescents, Alterations, Assessment and Posture, through the boolean operator AND, to combine the terms so that they simultaneously correspond to the objective. The bibliographic survey referred to the publications of scientific articles between the years 2010 to 2018, which were available in full and in Portuguese and English, cross-sectional, intervention, prospective self-control studies and case report. Abstracts of presentations, monographs, reviews, dissertations and/or academic theses were excluded. After analysis and selection, six studies composed the sample. Results: The results of this study showed as alterations, cervical inclination and anteriorization, shoulder elevation, scapular imbalance, thoracic hyperkyphosis, scoliosis, pelvic imbalance, rectification and lumbar hyperlordosis. We can identify that adolescents present postural alterations, painful symptoms and functional alterations resulting from inadequate posture habits. Conclusion: It could be observed that during the school period there is a high prevalence of postural alterations in adolescents, and these, causing functional alterations, pain, many of them associated with inadequate habits and bad postures adopted.
