Abstract

The Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (IATF) in cattle breeding is a technique that aims to promote a synchronization of ovulation which is predetermined in bovine females without the need for estrus identification. The present work aims to analyze the use of an additional dose of prostaglandin in the performance of IATF in bovine females, the evaluation of two groups with 116 bovine females each was carried out, considering that the first group received an additional dose of prostaglandin and the second followed the normal protocol of the IATF. The study was carried out at Estancia Menezes, which agreed with the procedures to be carried out, and all processes were accompanied by an experienced veterinary doctor. The research was carried out using a descriptive qualitative methodology that aims to describe the processes and results of the use of an additional dose of prostaglandin in the IATF protocol. The information was gathered from the theoretical and practical concepts of the technique processes, the data were collected and described presenting evidence that the use of a second dose of prostaglandin provides a significant increase in the pregnancy rate of the females to which they were submitted.
