This article presents the main Normative Aspects of early childhood education in Brazil, especially those that emerged from the Federal Constitution of 1988, the Statute of Children and Adolescents, the Law of Directives and Bases of National Education, the National Curricular Reference for the Early Childhood Education and Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education. The objective is to highlight the relevant legal provisions for a better understanding of early childhood education in Brazil, as well as highlighting the relevance of knowledge of these legal diplomas for the professional practice of this level of education.
