Early childhood caries or known as early childhood caries can affect the quality of life, as it presents rapid wear of the tooth structure and the presence of pain at the site. These factors can lead to malocclusion, damage to chewing, permanent teething, sleep, poor school performance, early tooth loss, in addition to interfering with tissue development and malnutrition. This work aims to carry out a literature review on the effects of caries in children, highlighting the importance of family monitoring. Given the above, it is essential to intervene and monitor the child's oral health from the eruption of the first tooth, in order to reduce early childhood caries and improve the quality of life of pediatric patients. , in order to reduce CPI and improve quality of life.
