Abstract

The artistic experience influences the way one learns, how one communicates and how one interprets the meanings of everyday life. Within this context, it contributes to the development of different skills and is reflected in the way one thinks, what one thinks and what is produced with thought. Thus, this work starts from the questioning of how art teaching can contribute to the inclusion of people with special educational needs and aims to discuss art teaching as a means of inclusion. As a result, we have that: a) art allows students to participate in collective and personal challenges that contribute to the construction of their personal and social identity, express and inform national identity, allowing the understanding of the traditions of other cultures and are a area of ​​choice within the scope of lifelong learning; and, b) the teacher must assume a role of motivator regarding knowledge, appreciation and appreciation of art. It is concluded that the pedagogical work supported by art contributes to the teaching and learning process, helping the development of people with special needs.
