This article has as its theme the social importance of recreation in the space of the toy library, acting on the cognitive and interpersonal growth of the child. Through a comprehensive search in articles and research published later, authors such as Freire (2005), Cunha (2001), Vygotsky (2000) and Lima and Delmônico (2015), were used as a basis for a qualitative analysis on the subject. In addition, aspects of human development were observed, such as cognitive and motor development, returning the analysis to social interactions. The presence of the mediator was also evaluated, considering him/her responsible for developing recreational activities that encourage individuals to play and express themselves freely. However, it was possible to reach a conclusion about the influence of the toy library on social interaction, and consequently on the child's development.
