Motivated by the great influences that the technological world brings to the educational field, this paper starts with a reflection on current methodologies for teaching a foreign language. The objective is to analyze Japan Foundation's Marugoto teaching material through the principles of active learning. Therefore, this study is configured in a descriptive and bibliographical scope, developed through the reading of articles, which became the foundation for the construction of this research, by authors such as Beichner (2014), Flavell (1979), Pellegrino (2006), and Prince (2004). We observed elements belonging to the textbook and the materials that accompany it (audios and exercises available for free on the web), from which aspects related to active learning were raised, with emphasis on self-assessment through the Can-Do check section.
