Based on the assumption that these instructional resources significantly contribute to student learning and development, this study explores the contribution of play and play to the learning process in early childhood education. Therefore, our general objective is to demonstrate the importance of games and games in children's learning process. This article discusses the theme from the ideas of Kishimoto (2011), Maluf (2009), Teixeira (2010), among others. The results obtained through the research allow validating the value of recreational activities and the use of games and games as a didactic resource. We emphasize that, in addition to providing students with adequate conditions for physical, motor, emotional, cognitive and social development, pedagogical work with play in the classroom enables teachers to make learning motivated, pleasurable and meaningful.
