Gamification in education has been around for a long time. Adding elements to the university learning process has caused radical changes with the popularization of digital and web technologies. Access to information, which was previously restricted to libraries and the teacher's words, is now ubiquitous. Students have access to any subjects, at any time, through smartphones in their pockets and, consequently, the motivation to attend classes has dropped considerably. Contributing to this lack of interest is the fact that teaching methods do not keep up with changes in society and learning styles, remaining strongly based on the exposition of contents through lectures.
