Abstract

Appendicitis is the most common surgical cause of abdominal pain in emergency cases. This pathology is more common in young adults, but it has increased the incidence in the elderly. The present study analyzes the epidemiology of this disease in the elderly, highlighting these numbers across regions, sex and age group. So, the results showed a growing incidence over the years. It is a conclusion that it consists of a disease that is increasingly common among the elderly, which requires early diagnosis and treatment since it manifests itself in greater severity in this age group.
