This work involves the training of teachers to work in early childhood education. It makes a brief historical review of early childhood education institutions in Brazil and analyzes their expansion over the years, presents the laws and constitutions that involve these spaces and discusses the concept of childhood over time. The research question was: "Are teachers who work in early childhood education properly trained to work in this stage of education?". Its objective is to recognize the training of teachers who work in early childhood education, their conceptions of teacher training and early childhood education. It was found that teachers have the minimum training required to work in early childhood education, a degree in pedagogy, but they did not take continuing education courses to deepen their knowledge.
