The main objective of this study was to investigate the use of assessment instruments in early childhood education. Therefore, at first, a bibliographic study was carried out, based on educational theorists and on legal documents that regulate education, aiming to improve the concept of evaluation and evaluative instruments in the context of early childhood education. According to theorists of the area and legal documents that regulate education for this level of education. It was concluded that teachers generally know and use different assessment instruments, and are aware of the importance of these instruments for their own work and for the development of their children, but due to the many instruments they used, they did not explore them in depth.
