ABC CURVE ANALYSIS: REVIEW OF CASE STUDIES

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the use of the ABC Curve in Inventory Management from Case Studies found in the scientific literature. To this end, an applied, qualitative and descriptive research was carried out, based on a bibliographic survey on the Google Scholar platform in documents published between 2017 and 2022 in Portuguese. The results show that the calculation of the ABC Curve is performed with few variables, namely: the company's revenue; the valued demand; and consumption of items by sales volume. In addition to identifying the most sold items and their value in stock, composing the ABC Curve and indicating which products deserve more attention within the management of stored goods, the surveys examined start from the definition of the Pareto Diagram with extra purposes: definition of the Inventory of Safety; purchasing planning through the definition of Economic Purchase Lot; organization layout modeling to improve product distribution; identification of the quality of purchases made in a period. It is possible to conclude that the benefits of using the ABC Curve for Inventory Management are great, whether it is used for any desired purposes.
