Introduction: Pressure ulcers are considered a major challenge in the health sector, especially in the nursing staff, because besides affecting patients and their families, its incidence is considered an indicator of the quality of care. Objective: To discuss strategies that can be incorporated into the care provided by the nursing team related to adverse events of pressure ulcers in intensive care unit patients. Methodology: This is a bibliographic study of exploratory nature, which used as methodological procedure a survey of data from articles indexed in the database of virtual libraries LILACS and SciELO for the search of articles. Results: It is observed that some practices extremely related to the prevention of pressure injury cases, such as repositioning and change of body posture, still generate some insecurities in some professionals, mainly due to the large number of medical devices used by patients and their severity. Conclusions: We conclude that the nurse is fundamental in this process, guiding the team for preventive actions, formulating protocols and permanent education, and seeking to inform and stimulate the nursing team and other health professionals to perform specific care.
