PROFILE AND WORK SATISFACTION OF UNIVERSITY TEACHERS OF A FEDERAL EDUCATION INSTITUTION IN MATO GROSSO DO SUL

The determinants and consequences of dissatisfaction at work directly affect the health of teachers, which directly impacts society, so it is important to know these determinants for the adoption of measures that minimize the difficulties faced by these workers. Objective: To evaluate the job satisfaction of professors at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). Method: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative, observational study whose population were professors on a full-time basis, with more than one year of service, working in the sectoral units of the Campo Grande campus. For data analysis, descriptive statistics were performed by frequency. Results: Of the 255 professors, most were men (58.8%), aged between 30 and 39 years old, married (73.7%), with children (63.1%), doctors (88.2% - 53, 3% were men and 46.7% were women) and 61.5% declared time of service between 3 and 10 years of teaching. As for the degree, 88.2% were doctors and 11.8% masters. As for work, the majority declared to participate in an extension project (56.15%), research projects (93.3%), Graduate Programs (66.3%), mentoring students in projects (87.8 %) and the majority declared not having administrative positions (62.7%). The evaluation of job satisfaction with the S20/23 showed the overall average of satisfaction was 3.67 (five-point scale) and the averages of the factors "Satisfaction with Hierarchical Relationships", "Satisfaction with the Physical Work Environment" and “Intrinsic Job Satisfaction” were 3.48, 3.72 and 3.84, respectively. The highest average in the intrinsic job satisfaction dimension and the lowest was obtained in the satisfaction dimension with hierarchical relationships. Conclusion: Of the total responses on overall job satisfaction, the majority (37.0%) of the professors said they were partially satisfied, while 25% were totally satisfied.
