MANAGEMENT STRATEGY: POSSIBILITIES OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY FOR ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

Globalization requires efficient and competitive organizations and, however, university managers have difficulties in structuring information, being randomly organized and stored, whose precarious systematization causes problems in academic performance. The objective of the article is to evaluate the possibilities of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, as a management strategy to develop academic activities, aiming at the growth of the HEI. The methodology was translated into the Case Study, whose research resource was the application of questionnaires to the Manager and Teachers of the Higher Education Center of the State of Pará, CESUPA. The results showed that, in the evaluated unit, ICT presents satisfactory possibilities to manage academic activities, with greater dynamism and selectivity of the information generated, in addition to the creation of new services, with impacts on the increase of academic performance. It is concluded that the use of ICT in the academic environment is beneficial and satisfactory for employees and the community in general, as the Manager systematizes and makes reliable information available to be accessed effectively, to achieve pre-established goals and serve tool for decision making, in favor of the growth of the HEI.
