Abstract

Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world. Early recognition and effective treatment of critically ill patients can prevent unplanned cardiac arrest, death, and hospitalization in intensive care units. Health professionals, particularly nurses, play a fundamental role as key players in performing cardiorespiratory resuscitation maneuvers, making it a matter of urgency to train competent professionals in this area, which contribute to increasing the safety of patients in the context of cardiac arrestIn this sense. Objective:  intend to evaluate the performance of the nurses of the emergency service in immediate life support, in the resolution of a scenario of CRP, through a simulated practice exercise, before and after a training session in immediate life support. Methods: An exploratory-descriptive study was developed during five weeks, in which 10 training sessions were carried out, composed of 3 nurses per session, using a simulated practice, involving a total of 30 nurses. Results: it was verified that the nurse’s performance in the first and second simulated practice was 72.2% and 92.5%, respectively. Conclusion: which shows the importance of this type of training in the effectiveness of the nurse’s response.
