CONTRIBUTIONS OF ANÍBAL QUIJANO FOR THE DEBATE ON ETHNIC-RACIAL RELATIONS IN BRAZIL

Abstract

The objective of this essay is to point out the contributions of the concept of coloniality of power, produced by Aníbal Quijano, to the reflection on ethnic-racial relations in Brazil. We will begin our discussion by briefly presenting the trajectory of the studies of the research group M/C (Modernity and Coloniality), its main authors and the themes approached by them. We will also point out the main aspects of Quijano's thought, emphasizing the concept of coloniality of power, and finally, we will indicate possible contributions of the author's thought to the current debate about ethnic-racial relations in Brazil.
