The indiscriminate use of medicines is a public health problem that can be beneficial to alleviate the need for SUS, but it can pose serious risks to personal health. People continue to use drugs to relieve breathing problems, and unattended use has long-term effects on the human body. As a result, the abusive use of corticosteroids for the treatment of respiratory diseases has been shown to be a sociocultural issue and, when individuals are in crisis, they seek the easiest way to obtain the medication without the need for a medical prescription. Therefore, this study demonstrates the need for strategies that facilitate the rational use of drugs, especially in chronic diseases. The practice of pharmaceutical care requires a change in the structure of the pharmacy, as currently, the structure and activities are adequate for commercial activities. The pharmacist's identity seems to be confused with that of a simple drug dispenser, evidenced by the distance from the patient's directional activity. The need for these professional qualifications became evident. In these cases, preventive measures designed to promote, protect and restore health are necessary to help reduce the risks caused by daily self-administration of corticosteroids.
