THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH PREVENTION UNDERSTANDING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS - EXPERIENCE REPORT

The present study consists of a report of an intervention experience based on the demand of a group of high school students who, on their own initiative, focused on the problem of anxiety and depression in order to promote reception among the students of the institution to which they belong. Knowing that in performance evaluation issues, students are often found in an emotional distress condition, such as pathological anxiety and depression, this led to the proposition of a clear intervention that aims prevention and promotion of mental health. Thus, with the aim of directing such students to the look of emotions and feelings, both in normative and non-normative events of adolescence; To instruct in terms of identifying the nuances of what is said to be normal (as a process) or what is pathological, allowing them to minimally identify the signs and symptoms and to recognize emotions as something inherent to the human being, so that the management of the proposed action became a better understanding and strengthening of the project created by the own students of the institution. From what was done, notably, the promoted action generated satisfactory results, so that with the dynamics conducted by the students, in addition to the understanding about the importance of the emotions, the understanding of possible signs and symptoms related to depression and anxiety, in the which the group action kept the focus.
