Abstract

Objective: To explore domestic violence in the universe of other types of violence present in Brazilian society. Method: This is a qualitative research that sought to elucidate domestic violence from gender violence. Results: The purpose of the article seeks to answer the question: what would be the main factor of gender violence, which has reflected in the occurrence of domestic violence? Gender, which today is not a fixed category, represents the point of differentiation between the sexes, and on this difference an order of conflicts is instituted. It is important to consider that this violence, at its extreme, in the form of femicide, leads to the daily death of several women in Brazil. The article points out that, among other factors, the issue of poverty and race/color are dimensions present in the victims' profile. Conclusion: In view of what was investigated, it appears that domestic violence is naturalized from a socio-historical construction of social roles. predetermined for both sexes. Making violence not just a fact of history, but the element that maintains the domination of men over women.
