Bacterial pneumonia is an infection of the lung parenchyma, thus affecting the pulmonary alveoli, triggering an acute or chronic inflammatory process, causing hematological changes in our body that can be detected by blood count. The aim of this article was to describe the hematological changes during bacterial pneumonia, present in the blood count. A literature review was carried out based on the research of scientific articles already available on the Google Academic and SciELO platforms referring to the chosen topic. Among the alterations are leukocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, anemia and aplastic anemia. There is also atypical bacterial pneumonia caused by microorganisms less common than those of normal pneumonia, which cause differentiated changes. Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of hematological changes through the blood count, because it is essential in the assessment of the clinical condition of the patient with this infection, since the medical approach remains based on laboratory tests for an adequate treatment.
