Abstract

Resilience has been recognized as a common process present in the development of any human being (MASTEN, 2001). However, an ecological analysis is necessary in order to investigate the way people perceive and face the adversities arising from proximal processes, as well as the influence of the context and time in which they are living (CECCONELLO, 2003). This article seeks to analyze the resilience in couples of families affected by natural disasters in Mozambique, within a context of vulnerability arising from the effects of the natural disaster, IDAI, which occurred in March 2019. The approach is qualitative, based on the bibliographic review of literature from the topic under study. Research sources are: Google Scholar; Libgen; Mendeley Reference Maneger and Scielo. The study focuses on couples from the community of Savane, district of Dondo, Province of Sofala, central region of Mozambique. It is assumed in the study that climate change is considered the greatest and most complex challenge of contemporary times, and these are translated into scientific projections that outline scenarios of great impact for all forms of life on earth (IPCC, 2018). Mozambique is considered a country prone to natural disasters, due to its geographical location. A systemic approach is taken to explain resilience and coping in couples, the relationship that is established between family members and the context, starting from the explanation of the various scenarios in which couples go through moments of natural disasters and are taken to the “ecological transition” resettlement centers, in a way, lack privacy and are forced to live in precarious conditions. It is concluded that this conceptualization does not refer to the impact of the family on the individual, but views the family as a collective unit whose results are also of interest to the family.
