COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES: A LITERATURE REVIEW

The rise of the marketing model based on the accumulation of capital and the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources has caused significant changes in the lives of traditional peoples, indigenous peoples, quilombolas and small family farmers in Brazil, and, above all, in the region Amazon. Thus, this work aims to highlight the context of community forest management, from legal guidelines and public policies to strengthen the production chains in this sector. Therefore, methodologically, it is a literature review based on articles from journals that address the subject. Thus, it appears that a joint effort between federated entities and organized civil society resulted in the creation of Conservation Units (UC), and in the implementation of Family Community Management Plans - MCF, with a view to conserving forest resources (timber and non-timber), develop viable economic alternatives for traditional populations, as well as promote sustainable development based on community management of natural resources. Despite this, the MFC still faces major challenges, ranging from the lack of land tenure regularization and specific credit lines to vulnerability in forest technical assistance and in the scale of production.
