This study aims to highlight the importance of teaching music in Early Childhood Education from the perspective of the author Teca Alencar de Brito and thus, investigate the children's musicalization process carried out and its main contributions in the children's formative process. The study was carried out from a bibliographical research, through the presentation of data from books and papers published by the author on music and childhood education. The study is considered necessary, since the studied author is one of the main influences in musical studies and practices in the area, thus, it is argued that her teaching perspective is increasingly propagated by music educators. The results of this study demonstrate that music teaching in the first years of life has particularities that need attention so that child development occurs in a significant way, moreover, the needs happen according to laws and normative documents that govern Brazilian national education.
