Abstract

This work aims to carry out an approach on the need to include environmental themes in technical courses, especially in metallurgy. In general, the professors of the technical courses do not discuss with their students about the environmental problems related to the activities developed in the industries and productive activities. In the case of industries, the discussion about the environmental theme is important, because this subject has a direct interrelation with the activities developed by the technicians, since the industry uses natural resources for the development of its activities, generating waste, the which must be treated and disposed of properly, so that there is no contamination of soil, air and water, in the region where the company is installed. Therefore, it is important that students have, in addition to technical knowledge, an environmental concept, so that they become critical citizens and active in improving society's life.
