Educational statistics are an important element for the organisation of school systems in Brazil and, in view of this relevance, the present work aims at understanding the narratives and discourses on the organisation of educational statistics in the Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos (RBEP) for the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). About the research question we ask ourselves: What are the narratives/discourses about educational statistics in RBEP for MEC/INEP? Or even, how did the journal present the organizational elements for Education Statistics within INEP? This research is a bibliographic review and document analysis, having RBEP as its primary source. The analysis methodology applied in the process of mapping the documents to be handled in this study occurred on the website of the journal cited using as a descriptor the word "statistics", without the inverted commas. Partial results indicate the existence of ten documents among articles and legislation that deal with the theme of the organization of statistics at MEC/INEP from 1944 to 1965. We also conclude that the creation of the Interstate Convention of Educational Statistics in 1931 and the Education and Culture Statistics Service (SEEC) responsible for the education statistics throughout the country in the Ministry of Education and Health in 1937 highlights the importance of the theme for the organization of education, as well as to better understand the nuances and specificities of each location.
