This work aims to understand the emotional dimension of the human being. If it is possible to synthesize complex knowledge that involves the affective cognitive dimensions in the educational field, this synthesis would take place in the branch of cognitive science that, from the 20th century on, was accepted by the scientific community. We will try here, at least to show what is emotion and cognition. In search of a firmer and more purposeful understanding, we invite you reader to take this journey through the human mind with us. In this text, we will deal with cognition and emotion and how these elements relate to teaching / learning. It is worth remembering that the debate on this text does not intend to exhaust itself, but rather it does apply to academic and social sciences, life sciences, everyday sciences. The aim of this work is to understand emotion and its relation to learning. This being a topic of great relevance, because it deals with human subjectivity. We believe that it is through the recognition of our singularities that we will find the way to respect our differences. For this reason, and guided mainly through cognitive studies, we propose to clarify the influence of emotions on the cognitive process, in addition to assisting in the understanding we need to feel to learn.
