One of the most sought after meats in the world is exotic meats, from wild animals. Among them, one of the most sought after is turtle meat, as well as its by-products, such as shell and oil. However, unfortunately, there is no specific Brazilian legislation to slaughter and classify the carcasses of these specimens for internal and external trade purposes. Everything is done in a rustic way, which becomes an obstacle for export purposes, due to theb pathogens present in these animals and which are serious epizooties that cause diseases in humans, such as Salmonella spp. The present study aims to elucidate the slaughter, legislation used and the obstacles that prevent entry into some countries, in addition to proposing legislative solutions within the scope of Public international Law.
