DEMOCRATIC SCHOOL MANAGEMENT: CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION

Abstract

Democratic school management serves as a significant mechanism for consolidating school community participation and enhancing educational quality through the coordinated efforts of administrators, teachers, students, families, and other education professionals. This article aims to analyze the importance of democratic school management in improving education, focusing on the key challenges surrounding its implementation and strategies that foster its realization within the institutional context. To this end, a qualitative, bibliographic study was conducted, based on a review and analysis of scientific articles, books, dissertations, content from specialized websites, and documents from relevant institutional sources. The discussion indicates that democratic management fosters participation, dialogue, shared responsibility, and the collaborative construction of decision-making processes; however, its implementation faces obstacles related to community mobilization, professional development, resource availability, and institutional constraints. The study concludes that consolidating democratic management practices can significantly contribute to creating school environments that are more participatory, inclusive, and committed to learning processes and the enhancement of educational quality.
