Abstract

This study aimed to develop educational strategies capable of improving safe patient care through serious games, fostering a positive safety culture within healthcare institutions. Two games were created with distinct themes—communication and care transition—based on the vulnerabilities identified in the study and confirmed through qualitative research with nursing technicians. This article describes the development of the game Trilhando a Cirurgia Segura (Navigating Safe Surgery), part of the educational kit Desafios da Segurança (Safety Challenges). The game development process took place between June and August 2020. It is concluded that the creation of games based on real difficulties encountered by healthcare teams in their daily routines represents an effective strategy to enhance the learning process.
