NIKOLA TESLA’S FIELD OF LAMPS: FICTION OR REALITY? PROPOSALS FOR THE DIDACTIC EXPLORATION OF AN EPISODE IN THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE
Abstract
This Educational Product is the tangible outcome of a Professional Master’s research project developed within the Professional Master’s Program in Science Education at the Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA), Caçapava do Sul Campus. This e-book stems from the dissertation titled “History of Science, Science Education, and Meaningful Learning: Interfaces via Historical Episodes with an Emphasis on Constructing and Exploring Didactic Models of Tesla’s Wireless Electrical Energy Transmission.” Its target audience includes K-12 teachers—particularly those in the Natural Sciences (Physics) at the high school level—as well as pre-service teachers and researchers interested in didactic-experimental practices linked to the History of Science.
Furthermore, it addresses students as active participants in the learning process by enabling the investigative exploration of physical phenomena through experimentation with the Tesla Coil and the critical examination of historical and media-related contexts.
This material aims to support teachers in creating more dynamic, contextualized, and meaningful lessons. It offers theoretical and practical guidance on constructing and using experimental apparatuses, alongside structured activities that foster hypothesis formulation, data analysis, and the systematization of scientific knowledge.
Thus, this Educational Product serves as a pedagogical and professional development resource that expands teaching and learning possibilities by integrating theory, practice, and historical context within Physics education.
